Danske Lejere is a union for tenants

It is an organization formed by tenants for tenants, which means we aren’t a company with investors backing us for a profit. With a membership you gain access to the 2nd largest tenants organization, with the highest remarks on Trustpilot of any legal counsel for tenancy. We help tenants with understanding their rights, and how to handle certain situations with the landlord through self-help. If that doesn’t help, we also contact the landlord if the tenant wants us to, and when needed we represent our members at the Rent Board if a solution cannot be attained by agreement.

Unlike other organizations, we only require you to pay the membership for us to represent you regarding the landlord or at the Rent Board. Therefore, there won’t be any claiming extra charges to the membership once the membership has begun.

Our membership costs 680 kr. For the first 3 months of membership, and afterwards it is 290 kr. quarterly. There are a couple of reasons we charge extra to start up the membership: We don’t expect our members to have been a part of the organization for a certain period before we help or handle their case.

We don’t charge extra for bringing the case to the Rent Board which in 2023 costs 345 kr., even if you’ve had multiple cases with us. Without the higher charge when you sign-up for a membership we simply wouldn’t be offer our services in this way. While we don’t have a “no-cure no-pay” policy, we are inclined to believe we charge the least of every other organization or company regarding legal help with your tenancy, as we don’t sort non-economical cases away, and we don’t charge a certain percentage of the expenses we help you decrease or claims we help you win.

While you can’t know beforehand if we are able to help you, we offer the opportunity for everyone to contact us, and get the first advice for free, it is a non-binding question so we can either be problem-solving or problem-defining of your specific situation – we will also tell you if it is something we would be able to help with.
